Illustrations & Art

Background: I began illustrating flora and fauna as a way to connect with nature and learn more about native Canadian species. I felt a loss over my lack of knowledge of the natural world around me. I yearned to know the names of birds and flowers I admired, which plants are edible and what medicinal properties they hold. Thus, I decided to feed my curiosity and go through a process of observing, researching, and illustrating nature. Subsequently, giving myself an opportunity to learn and be mindful.

Results: The result of this, is that I have a wonderful opportunity to share my discoveries with others through art and to bring nature into interior spaces. I blend traditional artistry with modern technology, by using a drawing tablet to paint digital watercolours. This combination of tradition and tech has allowed me to create illustrations that evoke joy and healing. I strive to capture the essence and intricate textures of wild things through a process of layering delicate, translucent washes and precise detailing.
